The chaser then pounces on the active runner and touches him out. Pole Diving is a unique style of diving. In this type of diving, the runner ensures that he has a wooden pole to support him while diving to contact the runner. Players use specific Kho Kho Training approaches to improve their above-mentioned skills.

Kho Kho pole dive

Though true masters are uncommon, it is a widely employed method today. It necessitates a great level of flexibility, timing, observation, and movement control. In fact, the Post is regarded to be the centre of modern Kho-Kho. The Post has grown in importance and strategic value. When an attacker switches course and turns around the Post, a defender often has no choice except to move to the Post.

For an Attacker, maximum body extension in the other half of the play field is only feasible at the Post. A defender at the Post is occasionally intercepted rather than chased around. The Post can be held in the palm of the hand or at the elbow joint.

The latter has a larger reach, but it is a tough technique that requires a lot of practise.

There is an enhancement over this, in which the arm is used in addition to the palm. It is safer to place the foot on the ground and closer to the Post in the rectangle, but it limits an attacker’s reach. In practise, only one leg should be on the field, allowing the hand to swing for additional reach while the other foot is up in the air. Holding the Post and swinging the other arm should be done at the same time.

The position in which this skill can be applied is determined by the individual. The first and second squares from the Post are the most prevalent. After a Kho, the player on the first square stands up, leaps forward in two or three steps, and performs this talent. From the second square, either rushes straight to the Post or pauses briefly at the First Square, taking a position to provide a Kho but not doing the skill. If done quickly, the entire action is a sight to behold.

If the desired effect is not achieved by using this skill, a defender must be pursued promptly, wherever he is.

Fundamental skills of Kho Kho

Giving Kho and Chasing the Runner

Giving Kho and Chasing the Runner:  If he fails to pronounce this term, a foul is called and the Kho Kho regulations are broken.

Fake Kho and Sudden Kho

Fake Kho is a tactic to divert the chaser’s attention or distract him from chasing the runner. The chaser appears to give Kho to his teammates while actually chasing the runner.

The chaser offers immediate Kho to a teammate in sudden Kho, making it difficult for the runner to avoid being captured.

Choosing a direction

The chaser team member must carefully keep his foot out of the box, as his foot will choose the direction he will sprint to catch the runner, else a foul will be called.

Diving

This requires a great deal of training and practise. This is a very effective way to get close to the chaser and catch him. During this process, the chaser pounces on the active runner in order to knock him unconscious. Pole diving is a unique style of diving. In this type of diving, the runner ensures that he uses a wooden pole for support while diving to touch the runner.
